Arrest made in fatal Wisconsin hit-and-run car accident

Wisconsin authorities have made an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run case after only two days of investigation. The car accident took place in Superior on a recent Friday. Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident in which a pedestrian was struck. Witnesses stated that a driver heading westbound on Broadway hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Broadway and Hughitt, and subsequently continued driving west until making a turn onto Banks Avenue.

The pedestrian died as a result of injuries sustained during the accident. He is identified as a 61-year-old Wisconsin male from Superior. There is no mention of the specific type of injuries he was subjected to during the crash, nor of whether he died at the scene or was transported to a hospital for treatment before succumbing to his injuries.

Police were able to obtain a detailed description of the vehicle involved in the crash, and located the vehicle in St. Louis County. As they investigated further, police were able to identify and locate a man they suspect to be the driver involved in the incident. He was arrested on Sunday and is awaiting formal charges of hit and run involving a death.

Should the 47-year-old driver be convicted of the felony charge of hit and run involving a death, he would face up to a $100,000 fine, and/or up to 25 years in prison. As for the family of the man killed in the car accident, they are likely still trying to come to grips with the loss of their loved one. They may follow the criminal case in the hopes of finding justice in this case, but they also retain the right to pursue a civil suit against the driver who struck and killed a man, apparently without even stopping to offer aid or accept responsibility for his actions.
