Bail set in fatal Wisconsin car accident

Readers may have heard news coverage of a recent fatal car crash in Wisconsin in which two young men lost their lives and a third has been gravely injured. The story has led to a public outpouring of sympathy for the families, as well as outrage against the young man whom police believe caused the tragic car accident. He has been charged with drunk driving, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and causing bodily injury while driving under the influence.

The crash took place when the 21-year-old driver T-boned another vehicle after running through a stop sign. Police believe that excessive speed contributed to the severity of the crash. One car was overturned, and the other ended up on someone’s lawn.

The driver allegedly told police that he had been smoking marijuana and drinking heavily on the night of the crash. He also shared that he knew that he was in no state to drive prior to the accident. His bail has been set at $25,000 cash, and conditions include that he have no contact with the families of the crash victims, including attending their funeral services.

For the families of those killed in this tragic Wisconsin car accident, life will never be the same. Coming to terms with the loss of a young person is often more difficult for loved ones to accept. When an individual dies at the beginning of their adult life, all of their potential dies with them. After the initial shock and beginning stages of grief pass, the families may decide to pursue a wrongful death suit against the driver.
