A Wisconsin car accident recently injured an Amish family when a young man hit the back of their buggy. While a car accident such as this is fairly uncommon nationwide, there have been several in our state. The 19-year-old that was driving the car that hit the buggy was reportedly somehow distracted at the time of the crash. There were nine people in the buggy, seven children and their parents.
Several members of the family were ejected from the buggy during the collision. All members of the family received life-threatening injuries. They were transported to two area hospitals for treatment, but no further information regarding their injuries has been released save the father who is still hospitalized pending an additional surgery on his leg. No other information is known about the mother and seven children except the fact that they have been released from the hospital.
Charges are still pending as the investigation continues. The driver of the car did not sustain any injuries. Obviously this family has incurred a significant amount of medical bills, and at least one of the nine potentially has a long road to recovery ahead.
Any Wisconsin resident that has been involved in a car accident could benefit from familiarizing his or herself with the applicable state laws regarding personal injury. Victims often suffer not only physically, but financially as well. By having a strong understanding of their rights, a victim can hopefully recover any financial losses as well as compensation for pain and suffering that occurred as a result of the accident.
