Wisconsin driver fails to yield, causes 2-car accident

Car accidents that result in injury continue to plague our roadways. Most Wisconsin readers are aware that a car accident can take place within just a few seconds. For this reason, many people try to drive defensively but, even then, a crash is not always avoidable. Recently, a two-car accident occurred on a Saturday afternoon along Wisconsin 42 where it meets South Trail Road in Egg Harbor.

Authorities say that the car accident occurred as a woman was driving southbound on the roadway. Another female driver failed to yield the right-of-way after she stopped at a stop sign and pulled out right in front of the woman. The two cars collided with each other and several people suffered injuries. Upon a preliminary investigation, a witness to the accident claimed that the woman driving southbound was speeding. However, since there was no proof to support the witness’s statement, the police cited the female driver with failure to yield the right-of-way rather than speeding.

The woman from the car which was hit was taken to the hospital with injuries that were fortunately not serious enough to put her life in jeopardy. The female driver of the car which failed to yield sustained unknown injuries; however, she was not taken to the hospital. Another occupant that was in her vehicle also sustained injuries, but she apparently did not receive medical treatment.

The female driver who failed to yield in this case may find that she has to enter the courtroom in a civil litigation even if she does not face criminal charges other than failure to yield. Injured victims of a car accident have the right to seek personal injury compensation and may be able to recoup damages suffered, such as pain and suffering and medical costs. The civil court system in Wisconsin commonly handles these types of cases based upon evidence that the injuries suffered were at the hands of the other party’s negligence.
