An accident has claimed the life of a motorist in a two-car crash. Blood tests were taken from the other driver, but Wisconsin authorities do not believe that this car accident was alcohol related. No citations have been reported in this incident, however, the investigation is still ongoing.
Authorities responded to the scene of an accident that occurred on Friday afternoon. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities indicate that the accident took place when the driver of a car was traveling northbound. An SUV that was traveling southbound failed to maintain control over her vehicle and crossed the median. As a result, the SUV hit the car in a head-on collision.
The driver of the SUV sustained injuries, but they were not critical. The driver of the car died as a result of the injuries suffered in the crash. Authorities determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and the incident is still being investigated. State troopers are performing an accident reconstruction as part of their investigation.
A car accident is typically overwhelming for the victims who suffer from them. It’s even more overwhelming for families when the victim has lost their life at the hands of someone else. Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, the family of the deceased may have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit in Wisconsin against the driver of the SUV. If evidence proves that the other driver’s actions caused or contributed to the death, the family may be awarded monetary compensation for their loss, funeral expenses and emotional distress.
