Uninsured motorist may be held responsible for fatal car accident

Motor vehicle accidents occur without warning and are capable of producing serious injuries to those involved. When an accident involves a motorcycle and a full-size vehicle, the injuries are more likely to be life threatening. Because there is no way of knowing when an accident will occur, Wisconsin drivers are required to have vehicle insurance to assist with costs associated with any damage inflicted by a car accident.

After a recent car accident claimed the life of a 29-year-old man, police worked diligently to reconstruct the scene of the incident. According to the report, the driver of a pickup truck stopped momentarily at the intersection of two highways. The 22-year-old pulled out into the intersection, at the same time a motorcycle was crossing. The motorcycle crashed into the driver side of the pickup.

Due to the force of the impact, the motorcyclist died at the scene. Emergency personnel arrived to clear the scene and aid the other driver, whose condition was not reported. Investigators say that the pickup driver was driving without a valid license and was uninsured, for which he was ticketed. In addition to the other citations, the driver was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Though nothing can amend for their loss, the victim’s family may elect to file a wrongful death claim on behalf of the deceased. Pending further investigation, the party deemed responsible may face civil claims for financial accountability for expenses and other damages associated with the car accident. In this case, and for other Wisconsin families who have lost someone as a result of a motor vehicle accident, any compensation ultimately awarded could help with funeral expenses and other financial losses related to the wrongful death of their loved one.
