Adult, child killed in Wisconsin car accident

Most drivers are aware of actions that are potentially reckless. For example, the average person is likely aware that driving while under the influence of alcohol or speeding could potentially place their lives — as well as the lives of their passengers and others — at risk. In one recent tragedy, two lives were lost in a Wisconsin car accident reportedly involving  a car that had simply came to a stop in traffic.

The incident happened just before noon one day in June. According to reports, the 23-year-old driver stopped her vehicle behind a tractor-trailer. Unfortunately, another driver, a 32-year-old man, reportedly did not stop in time, slamming into the back of the woman’s vehicle.

The impact pushed the car into the back of the tractor-trailer. Two passengers in the back seat of the woman’s car, an 8-year-old boy and 26-year-old man, passed away as a result of the injuries they suffered. A passenger in the man’s vehicle was transported to the hospital by helicopter. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured, but the two other drivers involved required hospital treatment.

Wisconsin authorities are likely still trying to determine the exact cause of the car accident. In the meantime, the families of the two deceased victims are left to plan a funeral and determine how they will cope without their loved ones. Additionally, the injured woman may face financial difficulties due to medical expenses and lost wages in addition to her physical injuries as she recovers. Fortunately for these victims, there are legal options that could lead to recompense if negligence can be proved. An experienced attorney can help them better understand their options and make a decision regarding the most appropriate course of action.
