Wisconsin car accident results in 2 fatalities

Most people in Wisconsin likely put little thought into the role of traffic signs on roadways. However, what may seem as a simple sign, perhaps even a nuisance in a daily commute, has likely saved many lives. Unfortunately, police are currently investigating a recent fatal car accident involving a tractor-trailer that reportedly took two lives.

According to police reports, the 27-year-old driver of an eastbound tractor-trailer failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the truck struck a northbound vehicle. Two people in that vehicle, a 69-year-old man and 66-year-old woman, died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.

It is unclear whether the driver of the truck suffered injuries in the collision. Despite claims by police that the accident was caused by the truck driver's failure to obey traffic signs, no charges have been filed. However, police are continuing the investigation into the incident.

A car accident involving a tractor-trailer has the potential to cause serious harm because of the difference in size between a traditional passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle. Unfortunately, families are often left grieving over unexpected losses because of the acts of negligent drivers. The surviving family members of these Wisconsin victims have the option to seek damages by filing civil lawsuits. An experienced personal injury attorney can help identify all responsible parties -- potentially including the employer of the driver -- and initiate legal proceedings.  A successfully presented case could result in a monetary award that can help with funeral expenses and other financial burdens created by a fatal accident.
