Tragic Wisconsin car accident kills 1, injures another

Proper maintenance of motor vehicles, adhering to driving laws and driving without distractions are ways to ensure personal safety when driving on Wisconsin roads. Unfortunately for drivers, personal safety is also dependant on responsible driving by other motor vehicle operators. When some people drive recklessly, a car accident may result. Recently, a tragic collision occurred that left one man dead and a woman seriously injured.

Initial reports of the accident indicate that one vehicle was occupied by a 59-year-old man and the other vehicle by a woman whose age was not reported. The man was traveling east on the highway when the other car appeared in his lane traveling in the wrong direction. The investigation has not revealed the possible reason for the other vehicle’s lane departure.

Multiple emergency services responded to the accident, including an accident reconstruction team to begin the investigation. Unfortunately, the man’s injuries were severe, and he died before he could be transferred to a medical facility. The woman, who is assumed to be the other driver, did survive and is being treated for her injuries. Although her injuries were serious, reports indicate that she is expected to survive.

Car accidents in Wisconsin can occur due to a multitude of unfortunate reasons. Whatever the cause, they may result in expensive medical bills, property damage, burial expenses and emotional suffering. Accident investigators will be sure to document the likely cause of the accident and the party believed responsible. If negligence of the wrong-way driver is formally established in a wrongful death lawsuit, a civil court may award compensation to aide victims — or surviving family members of deceased victims — to help lesson the financial stress in the aftermath an car accident.
