Such may be the case for a Wisconsin family after a fatal collision claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman on a recent Monday evening. Police reports indicate that the incident occurred in Holmen. The investigators are reconstructing the crash scene to determine the exact detail, but it is alleged that a 35-year-old Viroqua resident was impaired when he crashed into the vehicle in which the woman who died was an occupant — it is not mentioned whether she was the driver or a passenger.
The preliminary report prepared by the Holmen Police Department indicates that the alleged intoxicated driver smashed into a car after being involved in two prior collisions. After the third incident, the vehicle reportedly came to a halt when it crashed into a house. None of the occupants of the house was injured. The driver was arrested, and authorities say this was his third DUI offense.
That driver is now behind bars where he is awaiting his next court appearance to face a charge of vehicular homicide. The surviving family members of the woman who was killed in the accident are free to pursue financial relief through the Wisconsin justice system.
