Fatal car accident in Wisconsin kills 26-year-old driver

The sheriff’s office of La Crosse County and the Wisconsin State Patrol had to close a section of road on a recent Tuesday morning. This was done to allow them to reconstruct a fatal car accident that had occurred earlier. Investigators were trying to determine the reason why one driver crossed over the center line.

A preliminary crash report indicates that the collision took place at approximately 6 a.m. It appears a 32-year-old man in a pickup truck was eastbound on the highway when he veered across the center. He entered the lane of the westbound traffic and smashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.

The impact of the collision resulted in the death of the 26-year-old woman who was heading west. Authorities pronounced her dead at the accident scene. Paramedics took the injured pickup truck driver to a medical facility. Authorities reported that neither vehicle had occupants other than the driver. Distractions, drunk driving, medical incidents or other reasons may cause drivers’ failure to maintain their travel lanes, and the reason for the cross over in this accident is pending the report of the investigators.

However, regardless of the reason, the surviving family members of a deceased victim of a fatal car accident can hold such a driver liable for damages. They may pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death claim in a Wisconsin civil court. Proof of negligence will be required before the court will adjudicate documented claims for financial and other losses. This could be a challenging process which might be eased by retaining the services of an experienced wrongful death attorney.
