Head-on crash near Fairfield sends 2 to hospital

One of the worst mistakes that can be made after a traffic accident involving personal injury is the attempt to escape from the scene without being identified or arrested. Such attempts usually fail, and the would-be escapist only worsens his legal predicament. A head-on crash near Fairfield, Wisconsin produced a similar result when two people were observed running from the scene of the accident.

On Saturday evening, July 6, 2019, Police were called about a two-vehicle crash involving multiple injuries on County Highway A near Fairfield. As deputies were driving to the scene, a witness spotted a man and a woman running from the scene. Officers took only a few minutes to find the pair hiding behind a house.

According to the initial evaluation of the accident, a Ford Escape was driving west on North Reedsburg Road when it crossed the center line and hit a southbound Saturn. The Ford rolled over several times, and both vehicles came to stops in the roadway. Two people in the Saturn, one of whom is an 11-year-old child, suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Ford was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and causing injury, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, failure to notify police of accident, and other offenses. The man’s female passenger also had an active arrest warrant issued by Dane County. Another passenger in the Ford was arrested for a probation violation and was also charged with helping a person fleeing from an accident scene.

The injuries in this case do not appear to be severe, and the likelihood of anyone in the Saturn seeking damages from the driver of the Ford seems small. Nevertheless, complete medical results have not been released, and time could see an increase in the severity of the injuries. Anyone who has been injured or lost a loved one in a similar motor vehicle accident may wish to consult an experienced personal injury attorney for advice on the chances of recovering damages.
