Wisconsin man killed in suspected drunk driving car accident

Most people who use the roadways are likely aware that they face some degree of risk. They could be injured as a result of a miscalculation of their own or due to the negligence of someone else. Most people, however, feel they are relatively safe walking on a neighborhood sidewalk. Unfortunately, a young man in Wisconsin recently lost his life in a car accident after being struck by a vehicle while he was on a sidewalk.

The accident happened one night in late December. Reports indicate that the 20-year-old victim was walking home to spend time with his family. Unfortunately, police suspect that the young man was struck by a truck driven by a man they believe was under the influence of alcohol at the time. The victim’s sister claims that the driver tried to leave the scene.

The individual identified as the driver has since been taken into custody. The victim’s family was reportedly alerted to the accident by a neighbor who witnessed it. They say that when they arrived at the scene, they learned that the victim could not be saved. While they wanted to donate his organs, the family says that he had suffered too much damage in the collision.

Many who have never lost a loved one do not fully understand the costs associated with putting that person to rest. In addition to funeral costs, there may be other consequences of such a loss that could place a family’s financial future in jeopardy. As a result, those who have lost a loved one in a car accident caused by another’s negligence have the option of seeking legal recourse in a Wisconsin civil court. Such an action may allow the family to focus on overcoming their grief instead of stressing over how they will pay their bills.
