The dangers of consuming alcohol prior to driving are made clear by a variety of public service announcements and other efforts to educate the public. Unfortunately, many drivers in Wisconsin continue to make the decision to drink and drive, often causing an accident that has serious consequences. For example, one man is in critical condition while another has been arrested as police investigate a recent crash.
According to reports, the accident happened in the the early morning hours of a day in mid-May. Police claim that a 22-year-old driver was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle while navigating a curve. The vehicle then struck a tree.
Although the driver in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital where a blood draw was performed, a 26-year-old passenger was pinned in the vehicle and required extrication. He is listed in critical condition. The driver now has been charged with drunk driving and cited for failing to maintain control of his vehicle and excessive speed.
When a person is seriously injured in a car accident such as this, the recovery process can often be long and painful. Meanwhile, a victim may be unable to work while medical bills accumulate. Because the financial burden can quickly become overwhelming, many in Wisconsin injured by another’s negligence choose to explore their legal options. In many cases, a successfully presented personal injury claim can result in a monetary award that will help ensure that a person’s medical and other needs continue to be met, regardless of their expense.
