Wisconsin fatal car accident under investigation

It is easy to overlook the role that certain traffic signs play. For example, stop signs serve an important function in regards to maintaining order on Wisconsin roadways. Failure to obey such signs can have devastating consequences. In fact, police believe that a driver who failed to stop at a stop sign caused a fatal car accident.

The accident happened just before 8:30 a.m. one morning in August. A pickup truck driven by a 47-year-old man and a highway department truck driven by a 35-year-old man were involved. Reports indicate that the highway department employee was hauling recyclables at the time of the accident.

Police claim that the driver of the highway department truck did not stop at a stop sign, causing the accident. The driver of the pickup truck died as a result of the injuries suffered in the accident. It is unclear if the other driver allegedly involved was injured. While police do not believe that alcohol played a role, they are continuing to investigate the incident.

A single moment of distraction, such as the time it takes to change the radio station or read a text message, is enough for a driver to miss an important road sign. Drivers who are distracted can cause a car accident that leaves family members wondering how they will cope with their unexpected loss. While it will likely do little to ease their emotional burdens, a successfully presented civil lawsuit can help those who lost a loved one due to another's negligence deal with the financial ramifications of their loss. An experienced personal injury attorney can help victims in Wisconsin identify all responsible parties and take appropriate action.
