Darien head-on car accident claims the life of man

A car accident claimed the life of a Wisconsin man and sent another man to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred on April 3 just after 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 14, approximately one miles east of County Highway M in Darien. As a result of this head-on car accident, both men needed to be extricated from their vehicles.

Police believe that the deceased man, driving westbound, crossed the center traffic line and drifted into the eastbound traffic lane. The injured victim was traveling eastbound in an SUV. Officials say he attempted to avoid the collision but was not able to do so. The deceased man passed away at the scene, while the injured man had to be extricated from his vehicle and flown to a hospital via Life Flight, where there was no further word on his condition. There were no passengers in either vehicle and no further information about the collision was immediately available.

It is unclear whether the deceased man was distracted or possibly under the influence, or whether another issue, such as a car part malfunction, contributed to this accident.

Wisconsin personal injury law may provide the injured man with the right to seek monetary damages from any party deemed negligent in causing or contributing to the collision. Once the official accident report is completed, the man may wish to consider its conclusions in conjunction with any other relevant evidence. If all the facts and circumstances point to the conclusion that his injuries were caused by the negligence of another, a personal injury claim for may be an appropriate remedy to recover expense and other damages occasioned by the tragic car accident.
