A deadly crash in western Wisconsin has claimed the life of a 67-year-old man. The car accident occurred on Interstate 94 in the westbound lanes of travel.
Police were called to the scene during the very early morning on a recent Monday. Reports indicate that there were a total of three vehicles involved. The man who lost his life in the crash was driving a pickup truck, but the other two drivers involved in the accident were each behind the wheel of a semi truck.
The man was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment, but died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. At least one of the semi truck drivers was injured in the incident as well, although no specific details were included in initial reports.
As police continue to investigate the incident, there are a number of tools available to aid officials in reaching a conclusion. In most fatal accident cases, toxicology samples are obtained from all drivers and used to determine whether or not drugs or alcohol might explain the crash. Accident reconstruction teams may also be deployed to the crash scene in order to piece together the events that led to the collision. Eyewitnesses may be interviewed, and the investigators may also examine the damage on the vehicles to find more clues.
Should the Wisconsin investigation reveal which party was at fault in the deadly car accident, those who were impacted by the crash could choose to move forward with a personal injury lawsuit. The family of the man killed in the crash may choose to pursue a wrongful death action once they understand their options. When someone is injured or killed in a serious car accident due to the negligence of another, civil litigation is one means of obtaining damages that can help to cover financial and emotional stress associated with the incident.
