Police investigate car accident that killed Wisconsin pedestrian

There is a large number of people who utilize Wisconsin roadways. Because some users, such as pedestrians, could suffer serious injuries if struck by a motor vehicle, many places have precautions in place to help preserve their safety. Unfortunately, these measures are not foolproof. As a result, police are currently investigating a car accident that led to the death of a young woman.

Police say that a 26-year-old woman was walking in a crosswalk one day in late May. A car nearby was apparently stopped. However, police say that a second car struck the first in the rear. The victim died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the accident.

Many of the details regarding the accident are unclear at this time. Police are still working to determine which car actually struck the woman. According to reports, both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Blood samples have been taken, but reports indicate that the drivers did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A decision regarding the need for criminal charges or citations will likely be made once the investigation is complete.

While police are working to determine the cause of the fatal car accident, family members of the young woman are just now coming to terms with the the tragic loss of their loved one. In the coming weeks and months, they will also have to cope with the financial implications of her loss, including lost wages and funeral expenses. Many people in Wisconsin who have found themselves in a similar situation have sought financial relief in a civil court. If it can be proved that negligence caused the woman’s death, the court could order an award of damages that would help the family financially during this difficult time.
